Stranded!

One day I woke up and I was stranded on an island. The first thing I did was panic and check my surroundings. I noticed I was on what was like a tiny desert with some trees and bushes. In total the island was probably the size of a big house. I then used my survival techniques that I know to right SOS on the sand and gather some food and water. After hours of gathering resources including sticks and rocks for a fire, and leaves for shelter I heard a helicopter in the distance. I knew if I wanted to survive this, I needed to act fast! I gathered a perfect stick to make a torch and started grinding sticks together to start a fire. After what felt like years, I finally got a flame. Once the helicopter got close there was enough smoke in the air for the helicopter to see me. The helicopter finally landed on the island and picked me up while we were flying back to my house I woke up. It was all a dream.

Invisible Innovations

I am invisible! I have magically become invisible for twenty-four hours. I am going to do a lot with this. The first thing I am going to do is hop into a strangers car and have them drive me to breakfast. The way I will do this is pick a strangers car that is going in the direction of the breakfast place and hop in. Then when the time is right I will hop out and walk the rest of the way. Once I get there I will simply walk in the back and take what food I want. The reason I will do this is because I’m hungry. The second thing I will do is go to a bank. Once I get to the bank I will wait around for a little bit until someone goes into the room with the stash of money and then I will take it. The reason I will to this is because it isn’t something that will only last me the twenty-four hours, it will last me a long time. The last thing I would do is go to school and mess around. What I mean by this is I would go from classroom to classroom and make noises, drop stuff and make people think they were hearing things. I would do this because it would give me a good laugh. But if I did that I would make sure not to break anything or make a big mess.

Johnny Ate my Apple

It was an average rainy day and my mom asked me to go to the store. She gave me a short list on what to get and I told her I was really hungry. She gave me an extra dollar and told me I could get an apple. She said to be back before 4:45 because she needed to make dinner. I thanked her and hurried out the door. My friend Johnny lived a few houses down and it was on the way to the market, so I saw him outside riding his bike. “Why are you riding your bike in the rain Johnny?” I said confuzzeled. “It’s kinda fun. Look at this big puddle I can ride through.” Johnny said as a big wave of puddle water splashed the surrounding area. “Want to come to the store with me? My mom asked me to pick up a few things.” I said. “Sure!” Johnny said enthusiastically. Once we arrived at the store, we got a cart and got everything on the list except the apple. Johnny said, “Alright, is that it?” “No, we still need to get the apple.” I replied. We walked to the produce isle, and I grabbed what looked like the most scrubdidlydumptious apple ever. We checked out and as we were walking home Johnny looked me dead in the eyes gave a giant grin, grabbed my apple, and took the biggest bite out of it EVER.

Rad Reading – January

In January I read the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Getaway by Jeff Kinney. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a realistic fiction book about a boy named Greg Heffleys whose family goes on a vacation to a tropical place instead of having Christmas. They end up getting their bags swapped with another one that looks exactly the same. Their vacation takes a turn for the worst and gets completely ruined by bugs, spiders, angry families, business, and lack of cloths. Can they turn it around and have a good Christmas vacation?

I really really enjoyed this book as the author does a great job of adding humor into it. I have read all these books before but I still love the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. I would recommend this to people who maybe aren’t too fond of reading really long books. I like a short story that is really entertaining and funny. Another thing I really like is the title and illustrations. The author does an incredible job of drawing funny pictures and coming up with a snazzy title.

My favorite character by far is Greg. Greg is your typical unathletic, skinny, middle school kid. I like him because he is funny and adds humor to things. One of his character traits is he is brave. A quote to support this is on page 207 when the text states, “ I had no idea how to use one of those things, but I thought it was my only shot at escaping.” This quote shows he is brave because for some background he was being chased by a security guard so it really shows how gallant he is doing that when he is just in middle school.

My favorite quote in the book is on page 196, when the text says, “Then I remembered what I learned back at the airport, when Heffleys get in trouble, Heffleys RUN.” I like this quote because it is funny. This quote shows that when he and/or his family get into trouble, they RUN. When you think about it it isn’t a bad strategy, as long as you don’t get caught.
