20% Project, Week 3

For week two of the 20% project I accomplished pretty much everything I needed to. First, I added and colored all of the titles on my trifold, then I glued on my review of Chick-fil-A and started writing my review for In-N-Out. Yesterday I also ate In-N-Out which contributed to what I have accomplished. Something I do need to do next time is go with my mom to a store to get all of my pictures printed out in the right size, so in class I can continue my review and glue on the photos. I also have to go back to In-N-Out because if I get everything I need to review at once I won’t eat it all and therefore it is better to go twice which is what I’m going to do. I didn’t really need to make any major adjustments maybe a couple really small ones based on time wise but other than that I didn’t really make any adjustments. Overall, this was a smooth week, and I didn’t have any struggles besides not having my pictures. Next time I will probably pick up writing my review and glueing my pictures on.

20% Project, Week 2

For week two of the 20% project I accomplished a good amount. First I finished rating Chick-fil-A, then I wrote some of my things on my tri-fold. I also got all of my pictures I am going to put on my tri-fold (not printed yet). Some of my struggles included time, and not having my pictures printed to glue up. My adjustments for next week will be to try and work more efficiently and effectively and having my pictures. What I am going to do next week is a few things, first, I am going to fully finish my Chick-fil-A section and start my McDonalds section. Another thing I am going to do is get most of my pictures printed out in color and in the right size. I am not really sure how I’m going print them all out in the right size so all of them fit but I will figure it out. I am probably going to have to measure at least a little bit.

My Favorite Place

My favorite room in my home is my bedroom. The reason I like my room is for a few reasons. First, it is probably where I spend most of my time. I do my homework, I watch YouTube, I play video games, and it’s where I sleep. Second, it has my mini basketball hoop in it and I love that. I use it every day whether it be dunking or shooting. The third reason is it has a big closet. There are many good aspects to having a big closet. First, you can store way more than clothes in there. You can store almost anything. Another reason is that it is just fun to walk in. It is a nice feeling to have a walk-in closet. But even though it isn’t one of those crazy big walk-in closets you would see in a mansion, it is still pretty cool. My room is fairly simple. First, it is all wood floor with a rug at the foot of the bed. My bed is a queen size bed and the reason for that is that it used to be my grandma’s bed but because now she doesn’t stay with us it was giving to me. It also has a desk with a gaming setup and a window. Overall it is a pretty nice room, at least in my opinion.

The Three Best Meals

I am going to go over my three dream meals for one day. First starting off with breakfast I would go to McDonald’s. What I would get is a McGriddle, and two Egg McMuffins. The reason I would get these things is because I love the taste, even just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The Egg McMuffins will be a nice cheesy delight while the McGriddle would be a sweet sensation. Moving on to lunch I’m not really sure off the top of my head what I would get, but what I can think of is some good old pizza. The things I would get on the pizza would be plain cheese pizza because well, in my opinion it’s the best. You get a good mixture of everything and don’t really have to worry about them messing up any toppings. Finally, for dinner I would pick a place I have been CRAVING recently. PANDA EXPRESS! I love Panda Express so much. I either get a bowl with orange chicken and chow mein, or I would get a plate with chow mein and DOUBLE orange chicken. I really like orange chicken. Those are my foods I would choose for each meal of the day.

20% Project, Week 1

Hello, my name is max and I am doing a project called the 20% project. The 20% project is where you are going to either research something that interests you or learn a new skill. For my 20% project I am becoming a fast food critic. This week I went to Chick-fil-A. In class I started my review and tri-fold. Next week when I go back I’m going to get other stuff so I have more things to review. In class I will finish writing the review and decorating the tri-fold. I didn’t really have any struggles besides time, I feel like if I keep up my pace I’m not going to be able to finish everything I need to. So my main adjustment is to work better in class next time. One last thing I am going to do throughout the weeks is print out pictures of the food items from each resturaunt to stick to my tri-fold.

Dinner of a Lifetime

If I could invite any three people to dinner it would be the three GOAT’s of cartoons, SpongeBob, Squidward, and Patrick. SpongeBob, Squidward, and Patrick are fictional characters from what I consider the greatest cartoon of all time, SpongeBob SquarePants. All three of them live in an underwater city called Bikini Bottom. They are all next-door neighbors and SpongeBob and Patrick are best friends while Squidward gets annoyed with them quite often. The reason I would choose them is because they are the dynamic trio. First of all SpongeBob, is hilarious, and just pleasant to be around. Secondly Patrick, is also funny and cool and also like SpongeBob, just awesome to be around. Lastly Squidward, I would make sure to catch Squidward in a good mood so it would be fun and we could all joke around because if you’ve ever watched SpongeBob you know that Squidward can be very grumpy and rude. Overall the reason I would choose these three tv stars is because this is what I grew up watching and these are the best characters ever.

Rad Reading – March

In March I read the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School, by Jeff Kinney. Diary of a Wimpy Kid Old School is about a boy named Greg whose grandpa comes and lives with them for a bit. While Gregs parents are out one night Greg drop his toothpaste cap down the drain and when trying to get it somehow ends up putting a hole in the ceiling. Meanwhile there is this big camping trip his school is going to, and originally Greg doesn’t want to go because camping isn’t his “thing.” But after putting a hole in the ceiling he decides he is going to go instead of seeing his dad because he knows how mad he will be. During the camping trip Greg runs into a few problems, but in the end, everything turns out fine.

I liked this book a lot as I felt the characters were developed very well. What was happening was very straight forward and not confusing at all. I also liked the plot as it almost felt like it was split into two parts or kind of like two books. It was also funny as most of Jeff Kinney’s books are. Another thing that made the book incredible is the pure amount of detail. He did a great job at describing the setting and mainly just everything. I would recommend it to most people.

My favorite character was Greg because he is funny, naive, and relatable. Greg is funny when he makes jokes about things that happen to him. Another thing he does is he is very sarcastic. He is also relatable when he says things that happen to me a lot. Lastly, he is naive. Greg is naive a lot but a main thing he was being naive to is when he was trying to make lemonade. A quote to prove this comes from page 69 when the author states, “… we didn’t know how much of THAT we were suppose to use, either. So we just eyeballed it.”

My favorite quote from the book was on page 112 when the text says, “It bounced around a few times, then it went right down the drain.” This is my favorite quote for a few reasons. First when the text states “it” it is referring to the toothpaste cap which like I said in the summary lead to basically the whole other half of the book. So the reason I choose this one is because I feel like this is what started everything going forward. The hole in the ceiling, his dad being mad at him, and him even going to camp in the first place.

Basketball Star

If I could have any job in the entire world, it would be a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. Even though I’m not very good at basketball, I really like playing it and I’m practicing to become better. One reason I would choose this career is for the fun and enjoyment. It would be something I really enjoy and for my literal job I get to do something I love. I mean who wouldn’t want that? My second reason is that I would be really good at basketball. That might not make sense, but if I am in the NBA, I would obviously be extremely good at basketball. My third reason is the salary. It’s not necessarily the reason why I chose to be an NBA player, but it’s a plus. The average NBA salary per year is 9.7 MILLION DOLLARS. That’s insane. Overall an NBA player would be the perfect job for me considering I would get thrill, become really good at the sport I love, and I would get an incredible salary. I really don’t see any downsides to it.

Rad Reading-February

In February I read the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hard Luck by Jeff Kinney. It is about a boy named Greg Heffley whose best friend Rowley gets a girlfriend. This affects Greg because Rowley doesn’t hang out with him anymore, and Greg gets a feeling that Rowley’s girlfriend is using him. Rowley doesn’t listen to Greg and thinks Greg is just jealous. Gregs grades start slipping and he is threatened by summer school if he doesn’t pull it together. He also finds a magic 8 ball under his brother’s bed and starts using it EVERYWHERE. In the end they become friends again and things go back to how they used to be.

I really liked this book a lot. I really enjoyed it because it was always interesting, what I mean by this is there isn’t a part of the book where it’s really boring for a couple chapters. There is always something new that is happening or a new goal that the characters are trying to achieve. Another reason I liked this book was it wasn’t too too long. It isn’t some picture book with 30 pages, but it also is a 300 page small print book that takes 4 years to read. The reason I enjoy shorter books is I’m a slower reader. Overall it was very good. I would recommend this book to really anyone that enjoys realistic type books, and for anyone that wants a quick-ish book to read.

My favorite character is Greg by far. The reason I like Greg so much is because I feel like he is very relatable. Not the way he acts but the things that happen to him. A quote that supports this is on page 74 when the text states, “But the thing I’ve learned is that you should never tell your mom you’ve got nothing to do.” The reason this quote is relatable is he tells his mom he is bored, then she tells him to do chores. This has happened to me many times and I get annoyed when it does.

My favorite quote from the book is on page 216 when the author states, “I know Mom’s always saying friends come and go but family is forever, and maybe that’s true.” I like this quote because it is true in life. It also in my opinion kind of sums up the book based on what happened with Rowley.

Stranded!

One day I woke up and I was stranded on an island. The first thing I did was panic and check my surroundings. I noticed I was on what was like a tiny desert with some trees and bushes. In total the island was probably the size of a big house. I then used my survival techniques that I know to right SOS on the sand and gather some food and water. After hours of gathering resources including sticks and rocks for a fire, and leaves for shelter I heard a helicopter in the distance. I knew if I wanted to survive this, I needed to act fast! I gathered a perfect stick to make a torch and started grinding sticks together to start a fire. After what felt like years, I finally got a flame. Once the helicopter got close there was enough smoke in the air for the helicopter to see me. The helicopter finally landed on the island and picked me up while we were flying back to my house I woke up. It was all a dream.
